The brilliant costume designer Susan Gammie’s work has deserved 3 Emmy awards and 9 nominations. Protege of legendary costume designer Ruth Morley, whom she assisted on many projects including “Tootsie” and “The Money Pit”, Susan embarked on her own career with “My Little Girl”, starring James Earl Jones, Geraldine Page, Peter Gallagher and J Lo.

Susan continued on the independent film track, designing a number of projects including Volker Schlondorf’s “A Gathering of Old Men”, starring Holly Hunter and Lou Gossett Jr.; Ed Sherin’s “Georgia O’Keefe and Alfred Stieglitz: A Marriage” starring Jane Alexander and Christopher Plummer; Bob Giraldi’s “Hiding Out” with Jon Cryer; and Lee Grant’s “Hard Promises” starring Sissy Spacek and William Petersen.

Her career jumped tracks when she was offered the job as Costume Designer on the ABC drama, “One Life to Live”. Susan stayed at One Life for 21 years, designing over 5000 episodes. This opportunity taught her an invaluable amount about dramatic story-telling, the art of working with actors, and the intricacy of managing an enormous work load with a fluctuating budget under tremendous time pressures. Her focus on subtle character work made her very popular with actors, writers and directors. Her steady hand with a budget was appreciated by producers and Disney/ABC studio executives.

After the show went off the air in January 2012, music industry heavyweights Jeff Kwatinetz and Rich Frank of Prospect Park licensed both “One Life” and “All My Children” from ABC. Susan was asked to design both of these reboots and designed 40 episodes of each online show.
