Brian Heller, one of the North East’s premier aerial Directors of Photography, is a native of New York City and currently a resident of Providence, Rhode Island.
From his early years, photography was a hobby of choice, and in high school and college it became a true passion. After earning his BA from the College of the Holy Cross, Heller went on to an MFA at Brandeis University, concentrating in film. He then began his long career as a freelance DP, working his way up from local films and commercials into the developing aerial industry and branching out into feature films and television commercials.
For the past 15 years or so he has been specializing in aerial cinematography, mostly in New York and New England. His well recognized talents appear in feature films such as Good Will Hunting, The Love Letter, Dumb and Dumber, GI Jane, Anger Management, and Signs to name a few. His television work is extensive and includes aerials used in the title sequences and episode shots for The Late Show with David Letterman, Law and Order, Providence, Crossing Jordan, The Practice and many more. His better known commercials were done for American Airlines, Lee Jeans (the Twin Towers campaign), Nissan Infiniti, American Express, Ocean Spray, NBC Dateline, the Rolling Stones concert tour, and uncounted others.
