Alfredo Alcantara

Alfredo was born in Mexico City where he worked in the commercial industry as an apprentice to several Mexican cinematographers. In 2008, he worked in the Czech film industry in Prague, studying 35mm cinematography at the FAMU Film and TV School. In 2009, he received his BFA in Film and Television Production from the Tisch School of the Arts. That same year, he completed principal cinematography on an independent documentary in Guatemala which became a finalist in the 2009 Fusion Film Festival. Alfredo lives and works as a freelance cinematographer in New York shooting a number of commercials and music videos, one of which recently won First Prize on the General Electric Ecomagination Commercial Competition. He’s currently shooting an A&E television series as well as an independent feature documentary that spans twelve years in the lives of two African American boys and their families, produced by the Rada Film Group in Brooklyn.
